Is The CFPA On Your Radar Screen?
We've talked here a few times about the CFPA, and while we haven't focused on it in depth (afterall, we're trying to become RESPA Ready) ... we know that this is on a fast track in Washington and has the potential to change ... well, everything. This one is big folks, and the time to act is now. Of course, we won't tell you what to think about it. But we will tell you that if you aren't familiar with it, you need to be. And if you're at all opposed to it, the time to act is NOW.
You need to review your professional organization's positions and calls to action on this matter. If you are a Chamber of Commerce member, they are actively engaged in a CFPA opposition campaign. Once again, you don't need to engross yourself in all the details of the proposal. But you do need to know the basics. Here's a link to ALTA's CFPA section. The Mortgage Banker's Association also discusses CFPA. And the US Chamber of Commerce has a Call to Action you can view.
Beyond just getting educated, you need to Act! Join any of these Calls to Action and make your voice heard. You can also visit www.stopthecfpa.com if you're interested in their perspective and action requests.
