It's been a whirlwind couple of weeks in RESPA education world.  RESPA was on the minds of Ohio Land Title Association and Indiana Land Title Association members through their annual conferences last week.  This week brought two full days of RESPA training at the RamQuest User Group Conference - RESPA Fall Worksession. 
 

Once again, HUD has issued another update to the FAQs released to help clarify any questions you may need answered for successfully implementing RESPA changes.  Follow this link to the HUD website and continue checking back here for more updates and answers as we move closer and closer to the implementation date!

RESPA Reform is certainly the topic on title and settlement agents' minds as they gather at their State Land Title Association Conventions.  I'm just back from the Ohio Land Title Association's Centennial Celebration and Annual Meeting, where RESPA was the single most talked about issue among Ohio agents.  As I led the group through the fundamentals of RESPA Reform and what it meant for their business, we focused on operational issues and successful implementation.  I shared with them a check-list of RESPA Ready action items, and wanted to share it here with you, to

HUD again quietly updated their FAQs.  Here's your link to the latest.  It looks like some of the information we've been asking for is coming rapidly now!  In the coming days we will look at some of these questions and answers in depth - and compare them to the RESPA Rule itself.

An FAQ a day ...

The anticipation of more FAQs coming is here...this afternoon, HUD added new FAQs to its list, which had previously been updated on September 1st (covered in our post this morning).  Once again, we recommend you take some time sorting through them.  And, as always, we're here for any questions or comments that arise from examining them!

With Labor Day upon us, we're quickly heading into the 4th quarter ...

We've talked here a few times about the CFPA, and while we haven't focused on it in depth (afterall, we're trying to become RESPA Ready) ... we know that this is on a fast track in Washington and has the potential to change ... well, everything.  This one is big folks, and the time to act is now.  Of course, we won't tell you what to think about it.  But we will tell you that if you aren't familiar with it, you need to be.  And if you're at all opposed to it, the time to act is NOW.
